    Terminating an adoption
I would like to know if anyone has ever allowed there child's step parent to adopt the child and then be able to terminate that adoption. My second ex adopted my 2 daughter's in 2001 and we are now divorced due to verbal and mental abuse to the children.and the courts in Kentucky gave him weekends and tuesdays with the kids. They do not want to be with him and I don't want them to have to go. They will be 14 and 16 in the next 6 months.and if the adoption can't be terminated can anyone tell me if due to their age do they have the right to refuse to go. I have heard that when a child reaches a certain age it can make it's own decision about this. But not sure. I am having very little luck getting any info from the legal system.

No-the adoption is FINAL and not revocable act.You do not have right to refuse visitation because it's court ordered but you have right to ask for modification.

If the kids refuse to go then you can petititon for a modification or even denial of visitation. Have the kids testify why they don't want to go.

But if the courts already gave him visitation despite their testimony, then there is little that can be done. As long as they are minors they have to obey the court.
