    Can I get fit again at 38!
    Hi. I am a mother of a 6yr old.Now am 68kilos at 5' 3' and look old. I was once an athelete , a karate green belt and was into aerobics. But for the last 8 years have not gone into excercising. Incidents of life, unhappy relationships, realisation I am 100 % responsible for my kid etc have forced to become lethargic and lazy. Whenever I join a fitness program I am unable to continue for more than 2 days.

    Is there any other way to get fit.I am also unable to get up early in the morning.

    Yes, and you don't have to get up "early" just to get back into shape.

    I think half the battle is already won. You say you have prior experience the fitness and now exhibit the desire to be fit again.

    It has been awhile for me, too. But muscles have memory, so I'm told (though I forgot who said it... LOL)

    You should probably see yourself to a doctor first.

    Then, start slowly, stretching at first.
    Perhaps moving to calisthenics. Maybe some light weights (some household items can work, and I don't necessarily mean the remote or the vacuum in particular)

    Rome wasn't built in a day and neither were the Romans! So don't think you need to have a drill sergeant's regime, just consistency. Get a notebook or pad and write down what you did today and try to at least the same tomorrow. Increasing reps will increase endurance... heck, you know all this! Get up and go!

    I don't know if you have any spare money to spend, but if you do Try Power 90. (Beachbody Fitness, Nutrition, Diet and Weight Loss Programs, Products & Videos) My husband and I never had anytime to go to the gym, and in just 3 years I went from 140 to 188. I was devastated. My husband bought this DVD set for our birthdays (we are only a few days apart), and we finally started it last week. (8/20) it only takes 30 minutes and I have lost 14 lbs in a week. I honestly didn't expect much because hubby bought it from an infomercial. I was floored, and actually teared up when the scales told me that I was 14lbs lighter! I've also been keeping track of my calories on-line using Calorie Counter Database - Free Online Diet Program. (I try to stay between 1200-1400/day.) I'm not that much younger than you, so I think this would work for you as well. If you don't have the money to spend why not try going on a bike ride with your kid, or just taking a walk. Since it's warm out go swimming with your child. There are all kinds of things that you can do.

    Absolutely! I'm 38 and in the best shape of my life. I mix in running, cycling, and weightlifting for a total of 5 days a week. I have 3 kids, but still find the time to get my workouts in. Once you're committed to getting into shape, you will find the time. I push my little ones in a jog stroller when I run, and my 7 year old rides her bike along with me. We make it a family activity. There are some weeks that I can't exercise at all, but I just pick back up when I can. You can get there, just stick with it!

    Few health nuts I've met since injuring my back (L5-S1 disc) have mentioned the term "core stabilization". But that's all I hear now from physical therapists.

    Why haven't more people heard of this and remember to take care of it?

    I'm not muscle man but I used to go at least twice weekly. I later learned I wasn' t working the right stuff, the right way. You don't have to go to the gym but I'd recommend talking to someone about how to get restarted.

    Yes, at 38 your at the prime of your life, trust me. Start making small changes, Walk with your son, or bike with him. You have experienced the pluses of exercise and great workouts in the past, and although it's hard to get into it, movtivate yourself, think about how you want to look, focus on the clothes you want to wear, or how you will feel, and take small steps to achieve it, Even if its just waling the neighborhood for 10-15 minutes, then build from this. Turn the radio on and dance for 15 minutes. It's not the time of day, its focusing on what you can do in the time you have, at first, motivation will come back to you!
