    Heating & A/C selection
I'm in the process of trying to select a manufacturer of a home heating and whole house aie conditioning system (70000 BTU furnace 2-3Ton A/C) to replace existing units of 28 years and 35 years. I've had a number of contractors in all quoted close to size I stated, but the info I got doesn't help me with troubles that may have occurred in the past. Quotes are from Goodman, Carrier, Bryant, Heil. Any help on trouble free selection or is this an oxymoron.

OK, here's one vote for Carrier, but get a 14 SEER or higher because you will get the ten year warranty on the compressor and higher efficiency. Get some one you feel will do a good job installing the new equipment, this is as important as a name brand.
Bryant is owned by Carrier and quite similar. Best of luck, Mike

For a number of reasons, I've chosen a 3-ton Trane SEER 13, central AC/Heat Pump combo. It was installed to replace a prior that had been cooling, and heating, my Florida home since '92. The old system was a 2.5-ton Intertherm SEER 11.

The new system is substantially more efficiant, and unexpectedly (shh!) quiet! The price was quite in line with all the others I had considered (all of them within less than $200 plus or minus) They all had a similar base warranty.

    Good luck!

I agree with Captain Rich, Trane is another excellent piece of equipment.
