    Few things to check:

    1. The microphone on a PC tends to be muted by default. Check your NVMixer and make sure the microphone isn't muted and up high. Also check the Windows volume control (Start >> Programs >> Accessories >> Entertainment >> VolumeControl). You might have to set the volume control to be shown. You do that by clicking Options >> Properties and then selecting microphone in the "Show the following volume controls:" area.
    2. I hate to ask the obvious but - is the microphone plugged into your soundcard correctly?

I'd also like to know exactly how you plug this camera in. Is it a USB interface? What camera is it exactly? Also do you know what sound card you have? You mentioned NVidia but I didn't think they made sound cards.

    Dark
    Hi,
In answer to the "dark" part, have you considered buying a small lamp, using a 100 watt bulb, and placing it above your computer?
Some friends did this, to give light on themselves when using their webcam.
It works great. They just sit the lamp on top of their computer shelf, above the computer.
    Best of luck,
