AOL disconnects when I turn on my printer
    Hello All
I use AOL9.0 VR. Whenever I turn on my printer (hp psc 950), I lose my connection. It does relaunch but sometimes I lose what I'm trying to print! Please help me.

How is the printer connected? How do you connect to AOL?

I have a dial up connection. The printer is connected to the computer and a telephone.

Then it makes sense, Your printer is an all in one with a fax component. You have the one phone line. When you turn on the printer, it sends a signal over the phone line that can dump your AOL connection.

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to live with this. I wonder if I disconnect the telephone will that keep AOL from disconnecting. Anyway, I now understand what's going on.

If you unplug the phone from the printer or turn the printer on BEFORE you connect, that should eliminate the problem. If you don't use the fax portion, disconnect the phone line from the printer.
