Is it dangerous for a small dog to eat a spare rib bone?

I am not a dog expert, but from my readings, dogs don't need to be given any bones at all.

If they swallow parts of the bone, they may choke. My dad use to give our huskies rib bones and they were fine, just make sure any loose hard things are off it.

There was a discussion of this yesterday, https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/s...es-119522.html Of course, the dog guide school forbids us to give any of their dogs real bones. Spare rib bones might be less dangerous for small dogs because they couldn't crush them into splinters. They do come with sharp ends which could cause trouble if the whole thing was swallowed.

Bottom line? Any real bones may or may not harm a dog, but the risk adverse won't let their dog have them. If nothing else, they wear the teeth rapidly. Dogs do fine without real bones.

I admit I struggle when I carry a plate of bones and meat scraps over to the trash and dump them when I have 2 dogs in the house.
