    Slow running videos, games e.t.c
I know hardly anything about computers so please be patient!

My PC has about 1GB of RAM and still continues to run very slowly on certain programes. Boot up is fast, the internet is fast, but when listening to music my computer becomes very slow. Videos Jump and if I try to run a game it often restart's itself. If it doesn't reboot itself it is just very slow running.

I tried re-formatting windows but My PC is still horribly slow. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Well, if you have Windows XP, you can go to "Start" then "Settings" then "Control Panel" then "Performance and Maintenance" then "System" and that will tell you everything.

    Ah thank you!

I have no idea what any of this is but I'll type it out:

    VIA Samuel 2
    796MHz
    992MB of RAM

There wasn't much else apart from who the computer was registered to and that it was Windows XP, so I looked under "sound, video and game controllers". There's
    Audio codecs
    C-Media AC97 Audio Device
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy video capture devices
    Video codecs

I'm not sure if that helps but I really have no idea what I'm doing! I really do apologize for my lack of basic computer knowledge.

You're doing just fine, and that does help. From what I can see, it would appear you have an old computer. 750MHz's is a rather slow processor. Not only that, I've never come across a VIA processor before, so I have no idea of its quality. Also, because I don't see a Video Card listed, it may be that you have a slower integrated one, which will do nothing to help speed up games and graphics. It sounds like your problem is that you have old slow components. Newer games and programs aren't usually made for computers with the specs that yours is showing.

There's really no quick fix either. Buying a little more RAM would be the easiest way to go, but it probably won't help that much, if at all. You really need a new computer. Sorry I don't have better advice.
