    Being Sued
I am being sued by a collection agency on an old credit card that was assigned to my ex-wife by a divorce decree. She did not pay so they are coming after me. I thought the statue of limitations had expired because the last time I made a payment was in 2001. However the papers they filed state that they received a payment in September 2004 (I'm assuming by my ex-wife). If she made a payment, does that mean the statute of limitations has not expired?

If it has not expired, I guess I am on the hook.

After divorcing my 1st husband, some of his creditors tried collecting from me. I called them and explained that we were no longer married, and that the item and/or bill was awarded to my ex, along with the responsibility of payment. I then would send a copy of my M.D.A. (marriage dissolution agreement), and I had no further problems.
