    Weight loss
I have a staffie cross who has been diagnosed with diabeties. Since this has happened she has lost most of her weight. Is there anything we can do to build her up again, we have tried giving her more food but this has made no difference.

Unfortunately, when they have diabetes, no matter what you do, a lot of dogs will just look like a bag of bones. I am so sorry your baby is going through this. Have you spoken to your vet about this? What are his/her recommendations? I don't like suggesting anything without the approval of the vet handling the condition. What is good for one dog with diabetes, may not be good for another. Your vet should have told you what you should be feeding your dog and how much. Vets don't charge for follow up phone calls when they have been treating a pet for an illness. Pester your vet. Ask for specific direction on this. If you have already done this and what the vet suggested doesn't seem to be working, he/she needs to be made aware of the situation so he can suggest alternate diet plans.

As an FYI, if your dog's pancreas is inflammed, you need to keep him away from high fat foods. Usually higher fiber diets will help slow down digestion and helps in the absorption of carbohydrates, which will reduce the blood glucose level from elevating after eating. The goal with diabetes is to keep the glucose level from spiking or dropping, and keeping it within acceptable levels at all times. One food that I know of that is high in fiber is Science Diet W/D. Your vet sells that food. So, get back with your vet and have a talk.

Most of the rich food you might tempt a non eater with is exactly the high fat stuff RubyPitbull wisely said avoid. As she said, work with your vet.
