A/C not cooling during the day
Here is the scenerio: I live in an upstairs apartment and the A/C runs constantly during the day. At night it cools the apartment to the temperature set on the thermastat. The apartment size is about 1400 squre feet and the unit is said to be a 3 ton unit. The temperature during the day continues to rise above the set temp, the compesser is 4 stories below the apartment, a/c guys have come and say that the freon is where it is supposed to be and the temperature of the air coming off the internal coils (out of blower unit) is 57 with a temp of the air going in is 75. My question and everyone else's is: why is the apartment not staying cool or cooling to the desired temperature during the day? I checked the attic and it seems to be isulated properly. There does not seem to be any real ventilation though. I need help with this because the a/c is running all day I am afraid to see my electric bill. Help please!

This a/c appears to be working with 18 degrees differential it is not far off, your problem is being on the top level of the apt. where heat rises and the a/c might be a little undersized for the load.

57 degree output temperature is right on the spot (especially on the fourth floor with the compressor far away).

What is your set point? 75 on the fourth floor (with heat rising from other units below and the sun) will probably make it run a lot normally.

They are exactly right what you can do to help a little is keep all interior doors open as much as possible to help with air circulation make sure all window blinds stay closed and if you don't already have them supplied buy a ceiling fan that makes a room feel about 5 degrees cooler and also helps with the air circulation.
