My husband and I just adopted a boxer/terrier mix and she is very well behaved... she just won't eat very well or drink water when she really should. Being a terrier mix makes her incredibly excitable and she is constantly on the go. We took her to the vet and they said that she is not in danger of being underweight, but I still do worry about her not drinking enough water. She urinates about 6 or 7 times when we go for a walk during a 1 hours span! She tends to look at her water bowl each time and wonders what is in it. For her, it seems like it's new to her every day.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We would greatly appreciate it.:)

Cgars, thank you for choosing adoption over purchasing. I wish there were more people like you who would open up their hearts and homes to these poor dogs that have been discarded.

You didn't mention how long you have had her and how large she is. You also didn't mention how much water she drinks during a day along with how much she is eating. So, it is very hard to determine whether she is just adjusting to her new home or if she is ingesting the right amount for her size & weight. If the vet told you recently that she appears healthy and isn't underweight, I wouldn't worry about it.

As an example, if you have a dog that weighs 40-70 pounds, usually two cups of chow per day is adequate. Some dogs only need half a cup of water per day. Others will drink 6 cups. It all depends on the dog, the amount of exercise, and the temperatures/humidity outside.

Don't worry and please do not hover over her or she may develop a complex about eating and drinking. My dogs pee a lot when they go for a walk , maybe because they are so excited or maybe because they are marking. Does she lift her leg when peeing? My little girl does this as well as the boy, actually she does it more often than him he squats a lot. You are going to be in for some fun times with this dog. Enjoy!

I would also hazard a guess that if your dog is peeing that much on the walks, she is drinking enough water. If she was dehydrated, she would be lethargic.

I agree with bushg... if the dog is peeing a lot, but in small amounts, on the walk, she's most likely just marking the area. Especially if she does a lot of sniffing around first. It's just her way of telling other dogs that she's been through the area too.
