    New well needed
    Hi
I am on a private well system. 2 days ago, after inadvertently running it on an outside tap for 24 hours, the water turned brown. This is the 3rd day and it continues to be brown. Do you think I need to have another well drilled or could this be a temporary problem?

Your well will probably replenish itself in time but in the meanwhile you have to wait or drill deeper.

It should clear up after a while, call and talk to a local well person.
Also there are all sorts of filtering systems to clean well water.

*** I am sure you have it tested on a regular basis for all sorts of things.

I had one well that the color of tea was the best we could ever get, after going down about in the 100's of feet. We had a big filter unit on it.

In one MO town, it always smelled like rotten eggs, something about suffur in the water, never could get that smell out completely.

But as long as the well itself did not fall in, it is a matter of the material to settle

Wow! I'm amazed at all the caring people out there. You have all given me a shot in the arm which I needed. I had visions of digging another well. Today the color went from rusty red to brown so you are all on the money with your answers. Tomorrow, I'm sure it will be lighter until we get some rain to replenish it. I will be looking to you for help again in the future when I have a problem.
Thank you my new found friends!
