    Using a shower valve for a tub/shower
    I got a great deal on a nice shower valve set when my plans for a bathroom remodel included just a shower. Now the plans have changed slightly, and I'm doing a tub/shower instead. Can I just run a "T" from the outlet of the valve to both the showerhead and a diverter spout? I'm thinking gravity will force the water out of the spout unless the diverter is pulled up.

    Most tub/shower valve I've seen have a separate outlet for the spout and the showerhead. My solution will take a bit of creative piping, but I think it would work the same. Am I wrong?

    Just to clarify, this is the type of valve I have. I only have the outlet at the top, and want to T from there for a tub spout AND a showerhead.

    You may tee off the shower raiser for a tub spout, but you will have to install a shut off on the chrome shower arm,(see image) and a diverter spout to make it work. Good luck, Tom
