Remove a name from the deed
Hello, My sister & I bought a house together, but the mortgage company made an mistake not to put my name on the mortgage. The lawyer didn't tell us until the day of the closing and he told us that he would do a quitdeed(?) to put my name on the deed. Now I would like to remove my sister from the deed and payoff the mortgage. What should I do? Do I need to hire an attorney to do this? Does this consider a sale (from my sister to me)? Thank you.

YOu could pay off the mortgage and then do another quit claim deed removing your sister and just leaving you.
