Cannot view internet; however, email and other networked items are OK
    Hello All,
This is my first post to this board, after just now finding this site. My problem is with internet explorer. Yesterday morning, I was able to access the internet without any issues at all. Later that evening; however, I cannot access a single URL. The strange thing about this is that my email is still working fine, iTunes works as I was able to download a song without any issues.

I did notice that when I started IE up, it is always trying to connect to the site www.go.microsoft.com/fw7155... something like that. No matter if I change the defaults, clear all cache, all cookies, or anything else... it get this same issue. If I try to type in an active URL, like Yahoo, it spins for a while, and returns the "Web page cannot be found". Since I cannot access the internet, I cannot download any items on that machine to research and fix it.

Also, I completely disabled all anti-virus, firewall, spyware Dr... still no luck

Does anyone have any ideas. This is the strangest thing I have ever seen.

    Thank you

    Mark K

Did you check the proxy/LAN settings or the settings for your service provider? Anyway, I would recommend you to install Firefox, which is safer and more secure.

    Thanks to those who helped.

After tons of digging around, I found this:

    McAfeeHelp Technical Support

At approximately 2:00am EST, August 1st, McAfee released a product update, addressing a recent issue in which some North American customers were erroneously told they were 'Not Protected'. In fact, all customers were still fully protected. If you still see the 'Not Protected' message within SecurityCenter, click the Update button to address this.

Separately, some McAfee customers have reported a loss of browser internet connectivity. You can immediately resolve this issue by clicking "More..." and performing the steps outlined below.
