Recently I was having a discussion with one of my friends and I said that God is unchanging. He responded by saying that if God is unchanging, how can he become flesh and blood and come to earth. Is that a vilation of the Unchanging character of GOD?

God the son became flesh and blood. God is a triune being. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God's Holy Spirit (sent to believers)
God's CHARACTER does NOT change. He is the same as he was yesterday and then tomorrow.

Gods word is unchanging, but we see a lot of "changes" we have the first relatonship with man, and man being put out of the garnden, the destroying of almost all mankind and then an agreement not to do it by flood again.

And of course the providing of the sacrifice ( Christ) is not a change but a completion of one part of Gods word.

It is often that man in his limited knowledge that he can not understand all of God's words

God is steadfast in love of goodness and steadfast in his hatred of unrighteousness.

Malachi 3:6 "For I am the Lord; I change not."

One very important thing to keep in mind is that God is dealing with changing creatures who deserve one thing at one moment and deserve another at the next. An example is the city of Niniveh. The prophet Jonah was sent to warn its inhabitants of an impending destruction. But they repented. So the city was spared. (Jonah 3:10). Did God change? Of course not. He was true to his character which views evil as evil and good as good. It was the Ninevites that had changed and God treated them in accordance with that change.

Jonah Knew that God might change his mind if the Ninevites repented:

Jonah 4:2,3): "That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity."

It's further explained this way:

Jer. 18:7-10 --
If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.

BTW

Sending Jesus, His Son to Earth as a Ransom sacrifice for our sins is in full harmony with God's mercy and his love for humankind. So it doesn't constitute any psychological change whatsoever. As for physical change, that poses no problem whatsoever for Unitarian Christians who accept Jesus as God's Son and not God himself.

You are right God is unchanging, He has been the same before and since the Universe came into existence until today and He will remain the same always.
But this belief does not belong to any religion except Islam and yes in Islam we do believe it is a violation of the character of God/Allah to say that He begot a Son or that He came down to earth in human form.

Disclaimer-not a point to argue, it is a matter of belief.

God had to become flesh in order to die for our sins on the cross, and yes God's Word is unchanging, in the beginning was the Word , and the Word was GOD and became flesh and dwelled among us.

Firmbeliever I respect your beliefs but it is not for you to say that if one is not islam that you can't believe in God, I am a christian and I do believe in Jesus, do you condemn me for being a christian and believe on God? If we both serve God in spirit and in truth should our religion separate us? We ought to love everyone and not tell them unless they are muslim they can't follow Christ, think about that

Please do read carefully what I said,
God remaining unchanging and by this I meant, God into human form or begetting a son etc is not part of Islam, we believe He was Only One and will be One and will always remain One...
See I didn't mean others can't believe in God, but that God being unchanging since the beginning till now and everafter is an Islamic principle/belief.And I didn't say you can't believe what you wish to believe I was only showing the belief of a muslim without judgement on what anyone else believes or not!:)
