    Don't want kids!
    Hello

This is my niece's account but I have a quick question. I'm 30 years old, married, and very happily without children. I planned not to have children when I was like 15, and haven't changed my mind, and never will. My husband and I live a lovely life without kids, focusing on our careers and each other! I love it! I just hate dealing with all the things that come along with not having kids. I feel like I'm living an "alternate lifestyle" and when people ask if I'm going to have kids, they act like it's shocking that I don't want any. My husband and I are soooo happy! Kids aren't in my plan! It's not only that, but mostly it's my own body. Our bodies are designed for child bearing, and it really stinks, because I don't plan to. We store fat around our midsection, we have periods, and we have all these hormones and stuff dedicated to having kids. I feel like this fat storing and period thing isn't even useful for me! Why should I deal with this monthy hassle that I can't stand if it's serving me no purpose? Why should my body store fat in places I work very hard on to keep firm? Has anyone else dealt with this? It really frustrates me. Is there any pill that can take away these baby-making things my body does without making me go loony? (a family friend had her ovaries removed for medical reasons and went totally wacko)!

Get what is called a Mirena IUD. It is a plastic T shaped device that is inserted into your uterus, and can remain there for 5 years. It will not take care of the extra weight around the midsection, but after 3-6 months of it being inserted, your period goes away.

After the 5 years is up, you simply have a doctor take it out and insert another one, that will last another 5 years. It is pretty much like getting your tubes tied, but reversible.

**EDIT** By the way, I have one, and it is wonderful.

That sounds like a wonderful invention! I've never heard of that before! I will definitely be asking my doctor about that one, it sounds like exactly what I need! I just had one curiosity question :)
When you get your tubes tied, do you still get your period? Because how would the egg go down the tube if it's tied? Haha just wondering

Yes you still have a period. My mother has her tubes tied and has a period every month :)

Here is the Mirena webpage, so you can take a look at it : Keep life simple with Mirena IUC contraception, including birth control and additional menstruation benefits

There's a new pill on the market you take without breaks and don't get a period. There's also a pill you only get a period four times a year. Like the IUD mentioned it won't get rid of the weight gain, but it will eliminate the period. You could always get a hysterectomy if you can find a doctor to do it. No uterus, no period!

I wouldn't go as far as saying it gets rid of your period as I had one for almost two years and still had a period, for a few it may eliminate it or make it lighter but for most women it won't make your period go away.

Are you talking about the IUD? For most women, their period goes away. There are a few that still get one.
