I need some help well a lot of help... So I have a dog he's a Morkie, and he's getting FAT. I want to take him for a walk but my mom won't let me! She says I`m to young I`m Bigger Than Him And He Can't Pull Me! So can you give me some tips? :confused:

Get a dog food that is formulated for overweight dogs and get a ball and see if he will run after it in the yard.

Mom is most likely worried for your safety walking alone, too.

I let my children walk our dogs and play ball and stuff like that in our yard.
It's just to dangerous these days for children to be walking away from the home unsupervised.
Maybe you could suggest for you and your mom to take the dog for a walk together and you can hold the leash.
I do that with my children too and it's a lot of fun:D

So, what are you actually asking? How to help your dog or how to get around your mother? If you are as rude to your mother as you are to strangers on this forum, I can understand her not giving you the responsibility of walking the dog.

Parents always have a reason for the decisions they make.
Is she afraid that he will pull you even though you say he won't?

If she lets you go with your sister, but not with the dog, she must have a reason.

Just how old are you? What sort of a neighborhood do you live in? Unfortunately this isn't the 50's when I grew up, and my parents expected me to walk places and later allowed me to ride my bicycle. Even then, we were cautioned not to talk to strangers, but there were very few problems. Today? It is a fine line between being overly protective and neglect. Perhaps your mother is showing wisdom.

When it comes to info on dogs, the net is a great repository of nonsense. I hate it when somebody that doesn't know enough to evaluate what they find, Googles up something. Quite often it isn't as good as what is in the sticky here. Sometimes rather than just being a weak or ineffective answer, it is actually dangerous. What you read may have been put up by some kook with an agenda.

Over weight is a big problem with dogs. It can be controlled both by reducing a dogs chow, or increasing its exercise and a combination of the 2. I would disregard anything else you read on the website that said reducing the food wasn't enough. I have enough experience and training to evaluate what I find on the net. Mandielu Not to scare you. A little girl in Dayton Ohio took her dog out for a Sunday walk and never returned. Maybe this is what your mom is afraid of. Maybe ask if she will sit on the porch and you can walk the dog as long as she can see you. Maybe to the corner and back. What is a Morkie? The above posters have given you some good ideas at helping her to get exercise, having fun with her and losing weight. Maybe you can give them a try for the good of your dogs health.
