I've read (most) of the similar questions about blower motor wiring, but haven't seen any that match my configuration. I have an Emerson 1/3hp, 3spd motor with the following wires:

Red, blue, black, green (ground) direct from motor. White and brown go from motor to capacitor with black out of capacitor.

I believe Red is low speed, blue medium, and black high. Seems like black from capacitor would be common, but if it was white, I'd feel more comfortable about guessing!

Any suggestions?

I am not sure either. The black may be the common. Can you measure the resistance red to blue, and red to black, and blue to black. If the red to blue is the sum of the other 2, the black is the common. Do you have a switch for it? How does it work? Some 3 speed motors are wired with red, blue, both. The proper switch will give off, one, the other, and both. I have enough experience to know some motor work that way. I also know some don't. If yours doesn't, and nobody else pops up with the right answer, it is back to Emerson.

Thanks for your quick reply. I decided to take a chance. I connected the black wire coming from the capacitor to neutral, black from motor to hot, and green to ground. It ran at what I presumed was fast speed. I replaced motor black with blue and it ran at a slower speed. Since I'm only interested in turbo air, I stopped there and didn't bother with red. I'm sure that would provide lowest speed.
