    1999 Honda Civic turns off or does not start when HOT
    I have a 1999 LX Honda Civic I have not had any problems until recently. When I was driving it suddenly turned off and it would not start immediately. It would turn but it would not stay on. After I let the car sit for a short period, I would try and it would stay on. Once I would accelerate then the car would shut off again. Has anyone experience this before? What can it be that goes out when the weather is hot and it makes my car turn off? My engine light does not come on so when I take it to be hooked up to a computer it does not give a code of what can be wrong. :(

    Replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM), coil, and main relay should solve the problem. Here's how to replace the ICM and coil:

    The main relay is located right of glove box, along wall of right kick panel.

    Try messing with the ignition switch when it happens. Or, with the vehicle running, try rotating/ jiggling the key back and forth just a little and see if the problem occurs. If so, your ignition switch is bad.

I have a 1999 Honda civic that wouldn't start. I paid $600 for a new distributor. The car has approx 48,500 miles on it. I have never had to replace a distributor on a car before. Is this a common problem?
