If your periods are irregular, this could hurt your chances of getting pregnant. Talk to your doctor about getting on some medications for that. I believe the pill is called Clomid.

In the mean time, here are some extra tips to helping get pregnant : Tips on Getting Pregnant

And try not to stress so bad about it. Stress takes a toll on your body and can prolong your chances of getting pregnant :)

First of all it can take healthy couples up to a year of trying before conceiving, and that is if there are no underlying factors involved. If you were on birth control before trying to conceive it can lengthen the process, as can your age. Do you suffer from irregular periods, I got the impression from your post that you did... if so then it can be even more difficult. I suggest talking with your doctor about possible ways to get past this if you are. Also stressing about conceiving will actually hinder your chances. The more you worry, he harder it becomes. Also I would start taking prenatals as well as the folic acid, to help prepare your body for carrying a child.

Secondly - Are you positive that both of you are ready to raise a child? This is important, as it will change your lives drastically. It will make it more difficult to attend college and to see your friends. Im not saying that you shouldn't if you are both really serious about it, but make sure that you take everything in. I had a child at 20 and it was very hard for me when my friends stopped calling... and it will happen, they will look differently at you because you won't be available to do the things they can do... just a bit of warning there... Also make sure you are financially ready. Raising a child is an expensive endoeavor. Don't take it the wrong way, Im sure you are perfectly capable of raising a child, just thought I would offer some insight.

Hope everything works out for you. Good luck!

Sounds kind of like me there. My periods were actually never regular, I never knew exactly what day my period would come. Taking birth control helped regulate my period cycle, and even after I stopped taking these pills, it became somewhat regular. I got pregnant last yr a month after I stopped taking birth control, but had a miscarriage. I had to get a minor surgery done to stop the bleeding (D&C).right now I am trying to get pregnant once again. I too fear that I might not be able to get pregnant again. I would suggest you talk to your gyn about your concerns and possibly try to track your ovulation cycle by purchasing a kit at your local drugstore.hang in there!

You're so young, chances are you have nothing to worry about. On average, it takes 7 - 9 months of trying... most doctors won't even begin investigating until that point.
