    Cosigner liability
If I cosign a lease that is only for one year and the person continues leasing after the year is the lease still valid and am I as the cosigner still responsible for any financial responsibility of the leasee in Kansas?

Depends on whether the tenant has gone month to month or signed a new or renewal lease.

What you should have done is inform the landlord that you will not be consigning or guaranteeing the lease beyond the original term you signed for.

If a new or renewal was signed and you did not sign it, your responsibility should have ended. If they went month to month, then you might not be resonsible, but your responsibility is only the one month.
