When one truly quiets one's mind, there is no thinking, the mind is vacant and peaceful. Eventually, the mind discards what is unimportant to think about and brings what is important to the fore. What is important is not fraught with upset. It is not necessarily what the ego wants.

Sometimes in the silence of oneself we find chaos, uneasiness and when one find this a person tends to not like being alone or in silence, hence some of us surround ourselves with noise, people etc just to make sure we are never alone.
For such people I guess there are more questions than answers. (this is not a generalisation on all people who keep friends around them).

Other times we find peace knowing that we are content as we are and those of us content with ourselves find that we like the companionship of our own selves now and then.We try to find quiet times alone with ourselves and find it calming, peaceful moments in a world that moves on even as we stand still.
These people are the ones that find more and more answers in the silence of oneself.

This is opinion and nothing more... :)
