    Collecting a promisory note
My mother before she died this past week was holding a promissory note as part of the unfinanced portion of the sale of her home. I am also listed on the note. The buyer is 3 months in default and will not return calls. How should I proceed? The balance is only $700.00 but I don't feel as though I should just let this go without attempting to collect.
I am looking for any advise I can get.
    Thanks

    Hello brock:

Well, you listed your question under small claims... You need to sue him in small claims court. It's cheap, quick and easy. Collecting is another matter, though.

Yes, take a minute and read the 100's of posts of people who owe money and don't want to pay and want to find ways of not paying and the 100's of posts from people trying to get their money.

In the end if they want to pay they will, if not, you will have to get a judgement and try to find their bank accounts, perhaps garnish their pay.
