    Breaking a lease
On February 1st I signed a lease to rent a home that was on the market to be sold. The lease was for twelve months or ending January 31st 2008, regardless if the home was sold or not. In June the landlord and real estate agent notified us that they were close to selling the house and we would be asked to leave, but they would assist us in finding a new house to rent. Upon hearing this I made the decision to leave Florida and move back home to Massachusetts. Just before my move date of June 24th the sale of the home fell through. I am now living in Massachusetts and the landlord won't let me out of the lease. Do I have any way of getting out of this lease? Is the landlords verbal violation of his agreement enough for me to be released? Please help!!

If the landlord will admit to it, but if he does not admit to it, it will be your word against his and you will have to travel back to Fl to fight this in court

You should have asked before you decided to move. They can ASK you to leave, but they can't force you to leave as long as you have a lease. You had the upper hand here and you it drop. You should have gotten an agreement from them in writing that they were buying you out of the lease. You could have gotten reimbursed for moving expenses or more.

Now you are out of luck. Unless you have proof that they were going to ask you to move, then the landlord has your signed lease in hand. And Florida doesn't require that he try to rent it. I would suggest you try to ssettle with him, maybe a 2 month buyout.
