Switching to programmable, too many wires?
I am trying to switch to a programmable thermostat in a house I am remodeling. It is a Trane system. I really don't know much, other than there are 10 wires that go to the thermostat, 9 of which are connected. The current thermostat is a trane "weathertron" and I'm trying to install a honeywell vision pro 8000. The wire colors I have are as follows: red, white, orange, light blue, tan, brown, yellow, green, pink, and black. I tried to hook up the system with the jumper installed from the "R" to "RC" and the heat came on, not the A/C. Please help!

The tan wire probably went to the "T" terminel on the old stat, you won't find this on the new stat, Tape this wire off,it will not be used. Go into the advanced setup of your thermostat and you will have to tell it you have a heat pump. Make sure the "o" is hooked up on the thermostat . Mike
