    Firebox steel plate repair
In my fireplace, I have a steel top box that channels the smoke and provides a base for the damper. The steel has rusted through in a long narrow band on a bend. Must I replace or weld this or can I use something like permatex high heat repair to mend this? Any other thoughts are welcomed. Thanks.
