Multiple female dogs. Good or bad
We have a 10 month old female husky. We are looking a 12 week old female, is there a potential problem for bad competition between them in the future? Is it OK to get another female or would it be better if we got a male? Please help me!!

Good question! I have been a Vet. Tech. for 12 years and my parents actually raise huskeys. I think you will be okay. The fact that they are both young is a good thing, they'll be raised together. Huskeys are very playful and sometimes in groups can get into quite a bit of mischief! That would be the only thing to watch for. Your 10 month old will probably be very happy to have a playmate!

The conventional wisdom is that 2 females are the combination most likely to cause problems. I have never seen any numbers to back the anecdotal evidence up. It certainly makes sense that put 2 females together each with a high dominance drive, neither will submit to the other and there will be trouble. I can't say how often. My friends manage a whole house full of females including 2 breeding stock and intact puppies from their last litter.
A male would be less of a risk. I also question a 12 week old. At that age, puppies are no longer as quick to accept new experiences.

What I have heard from my mom, that has rescued dogs for a number of years. If you put 2 intact females together they will fight. She says it is best that they be spayed. To avoid potential problems.

Although it is more likely, it is not certain that 2 intact females will fight. There is no good reason to keep intact females except part of a serious breeding program.

We had two female dogs raised together, great as puppies. They were both spade. When
They grew up the one dog, would with out notice for no reason, we new of would attack
The other dog then they would be in awful fights, even bleeding andy hurt they would continue
To fight . One Australian sheppard, the one that would start the fights, the other was
Chowsheppard mix. She would defend her self. My husband and I could hardly separate
Them, and it took two people. We lived letting one out side while the other was in.
We would say is Sheen out then let Nikita in. It was very hard to live with them.
And no matter how we tried they would get to gether and fight.
Once I was alone and they accidental got together, I tried everything to try and separate them one dog almost lost her leg, 35 stichs.
I have had many dogs over the years and you never know if same sex dogs will get along
As adults. My advice is get one of each sex and get the "fixed".
You will not have to goes through that and neither will they.
