Horrible smell in house when furnace on
I hope someone can help! For the last 6 months we get a horrible oder that appears when the heat or air conditioning comes on. It seems to start in the basement and is worse in the front part of the house. It goes away when I turn the air/heat off. We have a drain in the basment that the furnace drains into and I poured water into the drain thinking perhaps that might be the answer as per another members suggestion from this site but to no avail. I have torn the basement apart and there does not seem to be leaking anywhere. I am at a total loss at to what is causing this. It has gotten to the point that I hate coming home! I am not sure if I need a plumber, have the vents cleaned or what.

    Any ideas?

You May Have A Dirty Evaporator Coil Or It May Be Holding Water In The Evap. Coil And Stagnating, I Suggest You Call A Repairman To Check The Evap. Coil And Condensate Drain. Mike.
