    Mother has abdominal pain
Hi! I am hoping someone can shed a little light on this for me. My mother is 78 years old and in good health. I also want to add that she is very secretive about her health (except with my Dad - she never wants to worry anybody - I also can't get any information from her doctor). I also no longer live close to her - we had to move across the state @ 2 years ago, so anything I hear is by phone. Anyway, about 1 year ago, (I just found this out recently), she was very upset and ate a whole bag of hard gummy candy. She then began to have pains in her abdominal area which continued for a while. I must mention that she is petite and very slightly built. She finally went to the doctor, told them about eating the candy, and was told that that had most likely stretched something in that area and that was causing the pain. I believe that she is still experiencing some of this pain. Does this sound right? Could the harder gummy candy have caused this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Dorothy

    Just a guess. 2 possibilities.

If the candy caused constipation, especially if she has diverticulosis, it could cause abdominal pain.

If your mother is a diabetic and the candy caused her blood sugar to get very high, then that could cause belly pain.

I'd put my money on diabetes considering her age.
