    Statistics/Regression question
    Hi, I have a question... how can I figure this out? Is there a formula? Anyway, if the mean of X is 15.6 and the mean of Y is 23.8, what would happen to the slope and intercept if 10 points was subtracted from every Y?

    Without knowing what the Y's were (which I don't), how is this possible? Or is it just a word answer, no formula involved?

    shifting by ten in y values
    if 10 points are subtracted from every Y , then you shift the values (and the line) down 10. i.e. the mean (of y) would also go down ten.

    just like shifted the y value down on any other graph.
    whatever the starting relation was minus 10.
    example: y=x , y = x-10. Second is shifted down ten compared to first.

    23.8 - 10 = 13.8 is mean (of y) of new relation.

    a relation may or may not be a function.
