I've been dating my boyfriend for 9 months now, and I still cannot manage to get along with his sister. She is two years older than I am and has not given me a reason of why she has a problem with me. She is nasty to my face, but even worse behind my back. I usually don't let it get the best of me and I don't hold grudges, so each time I'm placed in a situation with her, I try to be as nice as possible. My boyfriend's mother told me that she has a problem with me because she doesn't get along with her brother and cannot see anyone who ever would; so automatically, she doesn't like me. I don't see that as a fair chance to get to know someone. Last week I went on vacation with my boyfriend and his family; she chose to ignore me the entire time, and that's the best our relationship has ever gotten. If you have any suggestions on what I could possibly do to improve this relationship, let me know.

Well, don't hold back anymore, just tell her stragiht up how you feel about her being nasty. So people don't understand nice, so don't try being something you not, be yourself, and if she doesn't like it, tell her that's her problem not yours.

If you weren't writing this I would swear I was. My boyfriends sister hates me too!! And on top of that his Mom is no fan of mine either! We have been dating over a year now and I will tell you what I have learned. I use to try sooooooo hard to be her friend. I would compliment her ugly clothes and butch hair cut and her complicated hidious make up. I would call her from work to see if she wanted to do lunch, I would allow my boyfreind to invite her to every outing we went on, although she rarley went, I bent over backwardstrying to make this girl like me and not even for my sake but for my boyfriends.

Now, I Don't GIVE A FLYING F--K. One day I just snapped and decided "To Hell With This Sh*t" I told her (when she asked) that her shoes were ugly, that I rather drive a garbage truck than be seen in her car, I said to my boyfreind right in front of her that not only was she not invited to go on outings with us, I didn't want her around us at all. I stopped caring and started being honest to myself. We are now closer than ever (we're not buddy buddy sisterly love type thing), but we do get along for the most part. And now we are both honest and don't have to "pretend" that we like each other all the tension we had towards each other was from me not being true to myself and trying to be a kiss a$$.
