Honda Civic LX-2003 , not starting after headlights were left on.
I have recently bought a used Honda Civic 2003 model car, it was working perfectly fine until one day I forgot to swith off my headlights which were left on for 7-8 hrs and then Car didn't start. I thought that the batterry might have got flatten as speedometer light was coming and horn was working and CD player was showing time, power door locks were working and when trying to get started it was making a cranky noice and speedometer light was getting low. So I tried to give it a jump start with the battery charger but it didn't work . Can anyone tell me what could be the problem(also note that I could see some salt deposited on the battery , can this be a issue ) or there is an issue with the aleternator or sparkplug or some major issue. Can anyone help . Help needed ASAP

    Hi txgreasemonkey,

    Thanks for your response.

Could you throw some more light as why do you think that battery needs to be changed.
I couyld see power door lock working time on the Cd player is coming, sppedometer light is coming.
Yesterday, I cleaned my battery and tried to jump start again with another good car. But it didn't work.

    Could you help

The items you cite draw minimal amperage and are not a test, by any means, that a battery is good. Remove the battery, place it on a charger, and observe the amperage needle. If it doesn't cut back to around 1 or 2 amps, I would replace the battery. Additionally, you don't want to jump-start late model cars, unless you are prepared to replace ECMs and possibly other major electrical system components. Hopefully, you didn't do any damage by jump-starting your car.
