    Dachshund pain
My Dachshund growls when you get near her butt and back , she is still eating well and wants to play as long as you don't get to near her backside. Do you think it could be back problems or possibly anal sack problems , worms or what? Any information would be appreciated.

If she were my dog I would take her to the vet tomorrow. I would think that if it is anal sacs you would see her anus pushing out. I doubt worms would make her act that way. At least when my dogs had them they did not behave in this manner. However my sisterinlaw has a dog, that the vet said was having back problems, one of the things she did was try to bite them. This dog was very docile and had never attempted to bite anyone in her 6 years with them. They knew from her behavior that she must have been in severe pain so they took her to the vet. She was prescribed an anti-inflammatory and pain medicine she has never had a problem since. Btw she was not overweight, he said that she may have been kicked by a deer or maybe a strange dog had hurt her. That was at least 2 years ago. I hope your dog is not over weight that is very hard on dachshunds.

Even those problems likely to be behavior, need to start with a vet check. It does sound like back problems to me.

Noli, if your dog is suddenly biting and snapping when you touch her and she has never done this before, you should bring her in to see her vet for a physical examination. It does sound like back problems to me as well.
