Son has Eczema
My 2 year old son has eczema. He has had it pretty much since he was born, nothing out of the ordinary, I know what to do for it. But he developed a patch of eczema that's kind of worrying me. Its on his leg right where his butt and his leg meet, and it's a large patch, picture the size of a chips ahoy cookie. What worries me about this one is he has five or six red raised bumps inside of the patch of eczema. He has never had that happen before. Any ideas on what it could be?

Blistering is common with eczema and the location that you're naming may be the reason you're seeing it. Cortaid is a good way to go.

Cortaid is good for this sort of patch. Remember cool baths... I love to use Eucerine (the one in the tub not the tube) on my son who has eczema.

Will the eczema go away eventually or will he have it forever?

It's very likely that it will become less frequent and then completely disappear as he gets older. I had it until the 5th or 6th grade and then voilà! Gone.

Yes, my son had it right after birth, and he is almost eczema free now at 5 years old.

I use this on my three year old son. JOHNSON'S® SOOTHING NATURALS™ Soothe & Protect Balm. JOHNSON'S® SOOTHING NATURALS™ Soothe & Protect Balm. It works great. He's had dry, rashy sensitive skin since he was born, and eczema for about a year. I just smear this on any patch after he gets out of the bath and in about 3 or four days he'll have improved incredibly. Plus, it smells great, you can buy it anywhere, I get it at Target, and it's cheep and effective. Good luck!
p.s. the doctor gave us a prescription fot his eczema but that did nothig and he screamed when I put it n him, saying that is burned. So, I will stick with the Johnsons.

Thanks for the advice! My son's doctor prescribed him Hydrocortisone, which does nothing. I really don't think Navy doctors care :(

Both my son and I suffer from eczema. Eucerin works very well as does a cold compress for the really annoying patches. They are common, but I wouldn't worry. My son typically gets them where you are describing as well as the place his tshirt sleeves hit on his arms.. His has prograssively gotten better, I still suffer with batches on my arms from time to time.

Sometimes I just think doctors don't care period. I mean they get paid either way so why should they care? That's how it is with Navy doctors anyway, they're guaranteed a paycheck no matter what they do.
