My Durango's ABS light is always on and now is making almost a grinding noise after taking off from a stop but if I lightly press the brake while driving it goes away for a second. Is it the "ABS Brain" as I've heard it called before that is bad or is there a cheaper eaiser solution? The "Brake" light also stays on... any suggestions?

    Thanks

The ABS light being on is giving you a "heads up" that something is wrong and to check for codes. You don't want to procrastinate on this one. With ABS units, you should replace the brake fluid, which should be ABS approved, every two years to prevent corrosion. Neglecting to properly maintain these units can be very expensive. The ABS' brain is the computer.

I had some codes ran at Midas because the devices they use at Auto Zone and O'reilly's couldn't detect anything. Midas said it was the rear wheel sensor which I replaced and both "brake" and "ABS" lights went off. I also had my breaks inspected and found that the last mechanic put the front pads on wrong and that is probably what is making the "rubbing/grinding" noise when at an idle speed. Hope this helps anyone with the same problems.
