    Remote control for ceiling fan
I lost a remote for my Hampton Bay ceiling fan. Can I replace with a switch control. I bought a universal remote but I am afraid I might damage the whole unit

You can use a universal remote or contact the manufacturer to send you a replacement. You cannot use a switch control unless the fan has pullchains.
