    Very rapid weight gain
I'm very concerned about something that's been going on for the past four years. All my teenage and adult life I've effortlessly weighed the same-between 115 and 120 pounds (I'm five feet, nine inches tall and used to model). I always exercise regurlarly and have a "normal" diet - balanced, but I do lightly indulge once in awhile. Nothing in extremes, either way.

About four years ago I put on 40 pounds in under a year, with no change of lifestyle whatsoever! The only doctor I see regularly, my Ob/Gyn was concerned about this anomaly and had a simple blood test done. I was told that the lab test reported that everything was normal.

Since then, I've gained an additional 30 pounds. I'm greatly concerned, going from 115 pounds to 190. I've upped my exercise (both cardio and toning), eat even healthier than before, and much to my chagrin, have tried a diet pill (but didn't stick with it - it upset my stomach and had no results). Nothing I do has any effect, and this seems to be a medical condition. How can this not be something medical, putting on 70 pounds in 4 years?

Thyroids , my sister and my motherinlaw. My sister is on meds and has began to lose the wweight. My motherinlaw had to have hers renoved as she had a thyroid goiter and it had been growing for a number of years. She had gained weight over the past years. Since she had it removed she has lost 30 pounds. So have your doctor check your thyroids. People just do not gain that much weight with out a reason. If necessary get a second opinion.

Thank you for your response, bushg. I've also been wondering if it could be a thyroid problem, but thought it probably would have been caught with the first blood test. However, since it has gotten so much worse since then, I'll definitely make an appointment - two, if needed - to figure out what's going on.

It's probably not that bad. If it continues you should ask if you have cushings syndrom. It's when people rapidly gain weight even if they haven't eaten ANYTHING! But it's probably not this bad.
