I am loving every minute of the trip. I am whooped but I am staying an extra day... We are getting some really great talks in and my kids are having a blast. Going to go fishing and meet some old family friends that I haven't seen in over 10 years, happy memories. I love Brauts cheddar brauts are my favorite, I have never drank a whole beer in my life, I would much rather get it over with in a couple shots, or vodka and pineapple juice. See you later... Hugs to you all, Start

Hello all,
How was the weekend for you fine folks? Mine was very rainy. It was a horrible weekend for our "girls only kid free" trip to the lake... but at least we got 3 hours of sun... lol... and I got to read a little. Still wish it hadn't rained as much.

It was sunny and hot here this weekend.
I stayed inside pretty much all of it, and read 3 books.

I think we were more upset because we have been in a flippin drought for the better part of a month now, and while the rain is welcome, we would have rathered it have been some other time... its back to hot and sunny today.. lol. I guess that is just how it goes...
It was nice having no children though. None of us knew exactly what to do though.. lol.

Synnen, I wish I could get in 3 good books, I wouldn't care what the weather was like. Al, sorry it was such bad weather. Maybe we should go and kick the weather mans butt for you?? CBW, what did you guys do this weekend? Joe, I know the house has to be spottless now huh? I had a wonderful blast of a time, every time my kids ran out the door my Dad started another "meaningful" conversation with me. I loved it. Things just worked out, the kids did not want to leave. I told our youngest we were going to a "small" town and he asked how big the doors were there. I love kids. I have lots to do. The foster boys get back tonight, I want to get my work done. Hugs to all of you , I have missed you.

So glad your weekend went so great, it sounds like you came back happy as a clam!! Now back to the grind. It was nice and hot this weekend and I saw Fantastic 4 with the family. IT was fun. We went swimming but I still need to work on getting a tan!! I love it when I can read more than one book in a weekend, that is a great feeling. What books did you read Synnen? What are your favorite kinds?? Oh start, dads are so funny with their meaningful conversations but in the end, its awesome to have it. I remember the days of rolling my eyes at every word he said LOL

I read "Demon Seed" by Dean Koontz, and "The Hero and the Crown" and "The Blue Sword" by Robin McKinley.
I prefer fantasy novels to anything, and romance novels for brain candy. I read pretty much any kind of fiction I can get my hands on, though. I liked the Dan Brown novels, and enjoy Stephen King and Ann Rice and weird one-hit authors like Barbara Kingsolver.
I've read the Marquis de Sade and Lewis Carrol's less well-known stuff. I love F. Scott Fitzgerald's short stories, and enjoy John Steinbeck.
I just like to read, basically :) I don't watch TV, so my brain needs SOMETHING.

Quite a variety you enjoy! I need to come raid your bookshelf!LOL I think that's awesome because when I watch t.v. too long my brain gets mushy and duhhhhhh!! Once you get going on good books, its like crack hard to stop. I hate it when a really good book ends, its like a friend moving away. It sucks. Then I got to start reading another one. Romance novels are good when you are in the mood. I too like Fantasy and fiction. What's your favorites of all time??

My favorite of all time is the George R. R. Martin "Song of Ice and Fire". Probably. Ilt's 4 books long now (I really like series) and I've been waiting for the 5th for what seems like FOREVER.
I'm also terribly fond of 'Atlas Shrugged' by Ayn Rand.
Yeah... I know. I'm pretty weird.
