    Lost remote need new one
I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan - model number 52A4H4L - serial number 0036602. I have lost the remote. I tried buying one at Home Depot, but it is for ceiling fans that are not remote to convert to remote. How can I get a remote to replace the one I lost?

You need to contact Hampton Bay directly for a replacement. Universal remotes are not for your situation so stay away from them.

I'm not sure why he couldn't use a Universal remote. Also the ones they have at Home Depot, you can use them but you have to set the frequency to match. BEST to order one from Hampton Bay.

Ceilingfan, correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought the factory remote hand unit could not be replaced by a universal.

No, actually, that's the point of a universal remote. Otherwise, what would universal remotes be for?

Maybe I am wording this wrong. I thought you could not use an after market add-on remote to replace a lost factory hand unit.
