My ex boyfriend suddenly is trying to talk to me again after 8 months, we had a pretty bad break up. I treated him like because I had some baggage that I didn't take care of when we were together and he paid for other peoples mistakes.He couldn't take it anymore. Now this is all said and done the baggage is taken care of but how can I reassure him that if we do try things again that I'm not going to do what I did before. You know when people say you don't know what you had until it was gone. That is so very true in this case. I never realized what he meant to me until he left me. I tried talking to other guys but it never worked because he was/is always on my mind. I know that he coud be the man I marry but how do I let him back in my life and make sure to gain his trust back?

If he is making the moves to open the communications with you, I don't really see where there will be a problem with him re-entering your life. Just be honest, open and upfront with him. Also, I would recommend taking things slow and not being in a rush.

I think that you are feeling a little guilty about the past. Move on into the future. The past is the past. People can always start over with each other, if both parties are willing to put the positive effort into the relationship.

I'm glad that the baggage has been taken care of in some way.
