    Shoplifting Theft
    Hi,

Me and my friend went to a Wal Mart store and as I was grabbing all my stuff to pay for she passed me two boxes and said to put them down I was so distracted that I thought nothing of it but after I paid for my items and we left she told me she had shoplifted... we didn't get caught but now I am terrified to go into that store again, I really don't understand how this works but can they arrest me if they see me in the store again?? I'm pretty sure the cameras saw me put down the boxes on an empty cash line but I just don't know what the precedure is when someone is spotted stealing and the didn't catch them...

Where did you put these boxes? How did she shoplift (did you take the contents of the boxes)?

At this point, you have three choices.
    1) Never go to that WalMart again.
    2) Go back and turn your friend in.
    3) Play dumb.

If the cameras caught you, all they saw was you putting 2 boxes on another line. They did not catch you taking the contents out of those boxes. So it would be hard to prove that you stole anything. Also its unlikely that Walmart has posted your picture to grab you if you return.

Frankly, I wouldn't be concerned about it but I would never go shopping with that "friend" again.

    Hi,

I put the boxes on a closed cash register... but there was a lady standing right there doing put backs don't know if she saw though... I didn't take anything out of the box I just placed it down, my other concern is that I was babysitting my friends kid and now I am scared about what if she goes in there and they identify the baby and they ask her to view the tape and she id's me and my friend.

My question is don't they need you to have the stuff on you for you to be accused of taking it??

Is it considered shoplifting to consume something that you intend to purchase in a store before actually paying for it (e.g. a can of soda), even if you intend to pay for it all along and in fact do pay for it immediately after consuming it?
