    Thermostat wiring
    My old thermostat has 7 wires (red yellow green orange brown white blue) my new programmable has 4 and I'm not sure what to do with it

    If all the wires were used in the past, you have a heat pump. The new stat is not for heat pump. Return it and get correct one.
