Have just starting experiencing the toilet bubbling and in fact splashing water when flushed. Toilet bowl fills properly however when the water level goes below the water influx hole near the bottom of the bowl (that apparently helps with the flushing and filling of the bowl) bubbles come out and are sometimes so forceful that it causes spattering out of the toilet. Does not do it every time but once/ day is more than enough

No Tom ---there is no worse time and it happens randomly. My house is single story and on a slab. The other bathroom which is on the other side of the house from this bathroom does not do this

This is a tough call without being there. Have you checked the rim holes to be sure they're open? If they aren't then clear them with a coathanger.
Some how the air pocket in the bowl located under the flush valve in the tank is pushing the air out the bottom along with the water from the tank. Let me know about the rim holes. Regards, Tom

Tom, checked the rim holes and cleaned them out with a coat hanger ---none appeared to be stopped up ---then last several times I have flushed it, I have not had any burping or splashing but then again this seems to bean intermittent problem anyway --- I just flushed it again and there are still bubbles coming out of the bottom hole that fills the bowl with water in addition to the rim holes ---is that hole called a siphon jet? What is the matter with this toilet?

After flushing the water runs out of the rim to the bowl. This leaves a pocket of air in the rim and opening under the tank. The water leaving the tank's supposed to push the air out through the rim holes follower by the water. For some reason the air is being pushed on through to the bowl. While I can tell you what's happening but I can't tell you how to fix it without being there. If this were my call and I was there I would remove the tank and pour a bucket of water down the flush hole to see what's going on. Somewhere along the line I'd run into something that just isn't right. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Tom

You don't think it is an obstructed vent or line --I don't have to worry I am going to "gassed" or my house explodes, right?

Your house is safe. This is no big problem but it is a annoyance. That hole is called the jet. The rim holes start the swirling action and the jet starts the siphon action. Water does come out of all the rim holes, right? Cheers, Tom

Speedball1, thanks for the simple, correct answer to my similar toilet burping trouble. Every other site stated that the problem could only be either a clogged sewer line or vent pipe. I new it was neither, because my other toilet flushed fine, and I installed a two inch vent pipe for this toilet. We have well water, and we have iron issues. I've redone drain and vent pipes, wax rings, etc. Nothing worked. I was even researching new toilets. Then I read that all I had to do was stick a coat hanger under the rim and clear the holes. I wish I had seen your aanswer a year ago.
