    Refused Dental Treatment While Pregnant
I have a constant ache on the entire right side of my mouth, both upper and lower teeth and jaw. Occasionally the pain is so intense, it feels like lightning hitting my mouth (sorry, best description I can think of). I went to the dentist last week, but he refused to do anything besides just "take a look" because I'm pregnant. He gave me antibiotics, but nothing for the pain, which is really unbearable at times, and at other times just plain interfering with my life!

I also have a weird sound and feeling in my right ear, still after finishing the antibiotics. The best description is that it sounds like when you hold a seashell to your ear, that ocean noise. Occasionally it sounds like broken glass when I move my jaw. I'm thinking it's related to the tooth problem, as they both started about the same time. What could this be? Am I in any kind of danger here, by not being able to get treatment for this?

I can sort of understand why the dentist will not treat me, but this seems serious enough to me to warrant any risks involved with dental procedures while pregnant. I contacted another dentist, and since I'm not a regular patient, he would not see me or treat me either. I have insurance and money, so that is not an issue here.

What do I do? I've been suffering with this for about 3 months. Now, and have gone to the ER once already for the pain. I can't keep going to the ER, I'll get branded as a hypochondriac and drug seeker! I need help!

You are probably right it sounds like a problem with the one of the roots, but have your ears checked just in case. I had severe teeth pain on one side and they simply filed off one of my teeth and that solved the problem. He said my tooth had slightly shifted and was hitting against the other and causing the pain. I thought he was nuts but it worked. Good luck

You can often get pain in the teeth and ears from clenching and grinding. Did the dentist check your bite? If stress levels are high (which they often are when pregnant) you could be grinding in your sleep. We often don't know we are doing this unless our sleep partner says he/she hears you.
Do you wake up in the morning with headaches (usually in the temple area)? Does the pain in your tooth come and go or is it constant?
Is there a pimple like bump on the gum? If there is, the tooth is probably abscessed and needs a root canal.
Dentists don't like taking x-rays on pregnant women but sometimes there is no choice. I can't understand why your dentist gave you an antibiotic without confirming if the tooth was abscessed.
Try ibuprofen (Advil) this should help with any inflammation.
