    Blocking specific web pages
 I am using Internet Explorer 7 and have windows XP. I recently have had several pop up pages likes Jack9 and several others that won't stop popping up. I have maxed ot my pop up settings and they still pop up. Is there a program that will stop these nuisance pages?
    Thanks

    Can you say SPYWARE!

    Sounds like a classic infection.
Time to do some serious maintenance on your machine:

Here's my usual C&P for cases like this:

    System maintenance includes:
    Defrag
    FULL patching
    Virus scanning
    Spyware scanning
    removal of rubish files

Defrag is an inbuilt function in XP.
Open My Computer > Right click C: > Tools Tab and its there.

To make sure everything is running fine run both anti virus and anti spyware apps in normal AND safe modes. (make sure that they are updated first ! ;)) (AVG is good and free AV)
(A couple of good removal tools are Spybot and Adaware)

ALso an on line virus and spyware scanner is Trend Housecall

Just a note: actively running two AV's on one machine can cause problems.
So if you are thinking about it make sure your current one is disabled first.
Same thing applies to online scanners as well.

Removal of junk files is easy with CCleaner a free app that does exactly what

If all this fails then a repair install may be in order:

Here's the official Micro$oft way of doing it,
and Here's one with screen shots.

Basically this installs windows over the top of your current setup.
So you don't loose any information you already have.
This lot should resolve your issue.

Thanks so much. I'll try that. I've been running adaware constantly. I've run several virus scans as well and thought that it worked until the next time I went online and once again, the pages pop up again. Some of them are zango, Jack9, and PCH crap.

I've used Adware for a while and it missed a lot. Really the best Anti-Virus and spyware protection out there is Kaspersky.com. It's really hacker proof. I got into using it years ago when I used to do questionable things online :)

Adaware and spybot used together catches 99% of spyware, hence the links ;)

Spybot has some good inbuilt functions too like Immunise and Teatimer.
Immunise blocks known processes being installed and teatimer does a real time monitoring of your registery.

Personally I try and avoid these "all in one" security suites I have found problems with them.
