    Child support, parental rights
I've been married for 7 years now. We have one little boy. Last week my husband got a suponea from attorney generals office. Apparently he has an 8 year old little boy as well. The "mother" never tried to contact him or find him before. She first filed in April 2006. A year ago. He never knew there was a child... now he's married with his own kid.. I'm the worried wife... does anyone know what his options are if he is indeed the father? There are so many things to consider? Does he want visitation or even fight for custody? What would this do do both little boys. This is a lot to handle at 8 and 6 yrs old. And if he has to pay child support... I will have to get a second job.. seriously we have a mortgage and 2 car notes, and we make 60,000 a year. Were just barely making it now... had to give up smoking when we had to buy a second car.. maybe we have 200 a week for food, gas, and everything else.. we have made all these financial obligations knowing we couldn't have any more children, and now... its just so much to handlesomeone please give me some advise.. I did save 2000 dollars to go back and get my associates this fall, so I am getting an attorney if he needs one.. just wondering if anyone has any personal experience. Thanks

He needs to at least get a DNA test before worrying about the rest of it.

If he is the father, they will need to work out a child support, custody, and visitation arrangement.. hopefully in agreement without need for a court battle.

Chances are since he's never met the boy they will want him to stay with his mother and your husband to pay child support and arrange visits, so I suggest you do what you need to prepare for that outcome.

I would imagine that the Mom has filled for some sort of assistance and since she wasn't receiving support from the Dad - that the gov't is looking to him first.
That may not be the case.
Is there a question of paternity? Or is he sure this is his child?
