    Fuse box
My fuse box makes a barely audible cracking/popping sound. You can't hear it unless you open the door. What it could be?

    Bad connections, corroded or rusted.
    Probably fuse holders.
    Ever consider converting to breakers?

Have this condition checked and repaired as soon as possible. Don't mean to scare you but most electrical fires are due to the heat created by loose connections
