Having contractions at 26 weeks pregnant
I recently was in the hospital for low abdomen pain I been having and they told me I am having preterm contractions.. they gave me medicine and the pain went away and the next night I was having them again, well I just got back from the doctors office and they did a FNN colture I'm waiting on the results, is it too early to have contractions?

It isn't necessarily too early but your going to want to stop them asap... If they are just braxton hicks contractions then your OK, but having you go into preterm labor would mean they will try everything in their power to stop it. The chances of a baby living outside the womb at twenty six weeks is very slim... Have you contacted your dr? If not I would. S/he will probably already know about your hospital visit but I would probably go in just in case.

I would recommend drinking some water and relaxing... the contractions are probably being brought on by some dehydration... I know it probably doesn't feel like your dehydrated but chances are you are just a bit... also if you have it I would try a sports drink like propel. They have the electrolites in them that help rehydrate your body without making you blot like water does... lay down and rest is my next suggestion...

Oh really? I mean I always drink a lot of water I don't see why I would be dehydrated, but maybe because it is so hot now a days it takes a lot out, the contractions are like a tight feeling that pushes down right on my bladder and I feel like I have to urinate when I really don't have to, I didn't know those were contractions,I thought that was just the baby moving in there and then along with some dull cramping pain on my abdomen.

Its not too early, but as others have said they do need to be stopped. I had the same thing happen a few years back, when I was 22 weeks pregnant, and my daughter was stillborn. No one took me seriously so they didn't do anything to stop them. I was told I had a water infection! If you are worried keep harassing your doctors, keep on at them until they take you seriously. Good luck.

I am currently 26 weeks and just was released from the hospital with contractions. Crying and stressing will make it worse for the baby. Trust me, this is my first pregnancy and is hasn't been easy. I have been placed on bed rest back in November when I was 18 weeks along for bleeding. Now at 26 weeks with contractions. I am not giving up on my little girl. Drink lots of fluids (water) and try to stay off your feet as much as possible. DO not take hot showers because they also can cause contractions and stay away from sex. Your baby will be fine. At this stage, they have over a 70% chance of surviving WITHOUT any complications. But right now, your baby needs you to be strong for him/her.

Too squiffy,
I have had similar signs as MarMar 27, except I don't have any pain just contraction feelings like she said hardening really tight. I'm now 29 weeks pregnant but they have been going on for 2 months. Now especially when I sit, bend, stand, etc. but my question to squiffy is, was the baby moving a lot or at all right before what happened? It's sooo sad that I don't want ta say it and am soooo sorry!! My little one is moving like crazy still.
