    Theft under 5000-canada
Thanks for the help. However, if they were going to press charges, wouldn't they have done it right away when the theft occurred?. Why do it at a later date?. If theyare going to press charges how long do they usually wait?. and how does this occur?. letter in the mail?

I would suggest posting your response that you have above as a response to your original post concerning your question. Your response is much more likely to get noticed and responded to that way. You've just posted it as a new question. So, some people are going to think that it is new and answer it as such. This place doesn't operate like a chat room.

    HI messa123!
I think I'm in similliar situation as you...
I caught at the mall two days ago and the security who brought me to the back, private office gave me a form, "notice of apprehension"... But for me, the security guard said that the police will come up my house in one week and give me a court date and such...
And also, there is some statement about crown counsel and short release on the Notice of Apprehension form...
And the security got my address, name, phone number and such,,

Did they do this thing for you? Threaten you with court date, police and such?
Or.. did they just forgive you?

Because they gave you a same form as mine, "Notice of apprehension", I think they didn't let you just go... or... do they just did it to threat you?

p.s Sorry about all repitition and confusion... I'm just being so worried about it...

There is no such statement on my form about crown counsel. The security I spoke with said if it my first offense it is unlikely the police will come. Although they may. However if I were to do it again I would be chraged double. The security officer mentioned nothing about a court date.
